Following the 2023 BPYAP English Song course, composer Anna Disley-Simpson and poet Katie Byford have collaborated with Jonathan Eyers and Emily Hoh to create a new song cycle which draws on the tradition of English art song and the intricate relationship between music and language. An exploration of night-time and the creatures that take flight in the hours of darkness inspire the themes for this new work, as well as influencing some of the other standard repertoire that will be explored in this concert. Eyers and Hoh are joined by soprano Lindsey Reynolds to complete this programme celebrating song in the English language.
